In 1985 we moved to London and lived in a flat literally next door to EMI Studios on Abbey Rd. I could look down at this building from my bedroom window which was on the top right corner of the building to the left.
The man who sold newspapers just up the road remembered John, Paul, George and Ringo. “They were nice lads. I used to sell ‘em fags. Very polite,” he told me one day as I bought a Standard.
We would often see tourists standing on the famous Abby Rd. “zebra crossing” to simulate the famous Beatles album cover photo.
People would autograph the street sign so often it had to be replaced all the time. I used to walk that crosswalk every day to get to the St. John’s Wood tube station to get to school.
It is a small world indeed.
